Updating the bios file

You might be able to get the information by entering the serial number of the PC on a Web site, but when it comes to flashing your BIOS you need to be 100 percent accurate and the information on the Web site could be incorrect.

It's good to have a spare copy of all important files from your PC before you start.

For example, a BIOS update may help solve an overheating issue.

Also, many BIOS updates are released that simply support new hardware like a new CPU model or graphics card.

If not, there may be little point in taking the risk by updating.

Sometimes you will need to update the BIOS in order for the motherboard to properly support a new processor or other hardware, or to fix bugs and improve stability or performance.
